Current Activities and Opportunities

Glen Nevis Litter Pick/Sweep - 18 &/or 19 May 2008
All are invited to take part in this first Friends of Nevis group volunteer activity, which will be preceded by a volunteers'  welcome event at a local venue - details to follow soon!

A commitment of half a day (approximately 4 hours) is suggested as a minimum...and exact times and arrangements will be agreed once availability of volunteers is established. We hope to tackle the area from Nevis Bank (by the roundabout) up to the old curling ponds and beyond. All equipment/safety clothing etc will be provided and there will be a group leader on hand at all times.

General path maintenance and repairs in the Nevis Area - Spring/summer 2008 Over 18, physically fit, full day commitment required.

Litter and cairn removal work parties on Ben Nevis - Summer 2008
Over 18 and need to be fit/able to summit Ben Nevis and carry off items/litter, full day commitment required.

Species surveys and monitoring in Glen Nevis - Summer 2008
Reasonable level of fitness for general walking, full day commitment may be required.

Scree monitoring surveys on Ben Nevis - Spring/Summer 2008
Over 18 and good level of general fitness, full day commitment required.

Meet and greet the public in and around Glen Nevis - Weekends/holidays summer 2008
Local knowledge and outgoing personality desirable, flexible times/sessions

Fundraising Activity participants - Various dates/locations/times available
Eg street collection, trolley token selling, staffing Friends of Nevis stall at events.
Over 18 necessary for some activities.

Cataloguing Mountain Memorabilia for museum archiving - Flexible days/dates
Own transport preferable, though not essential. IT literate (excel/databases), half or full day commitment desirable.
