Guided walk to the North Face of Ben Nevis
Date(s) - 17 Mar 2013
10:30 AM - 2:30 PM
North Face Car Park
Annual post dinner blow-the-cobwebs(or should that be whisky)-away post dinner walk.
We are very pleased to announce that the 2013 walk will be led by Mike Pescod, international mountain guide, editor of climbing guide books, Chair of the Fort William Mountain Festival and owner of Abacus Mountaineering
Mike has been climbing and leading clients on the Ben for many years and on this walk will talk about his adventures on the steep North Face climbing buttresses, just what makes climbing on Ben Nevis so special internationally, the unique mountaineering history and culture that the Fort William area has and what climbers and walkers find so unique and what keeps them coming back.
This walk will be longer than our usual post dinner walks – allow about 4 hours but after the initial steepish climb the path to the North Face is good and undulating, not overly steep and your efforts will (weather permitting) be rewarded with great views.
A bad weather alternative is to go to the other side of the Ben and look at Five Finger Gully from the river path.
Registration is essential and numbers are limited so please book early. After meeting up at the lower North Face Car Park we will be car sharing up to the top car park, so if you have a four wheel drive and can take others please let me know.
No charge but donations gratefully accepted.
